King Communications

One of the services that most businesses lack today is customer follow up. You buy a product or a service but once you experience the problem from lack of knowledge - i.e., you don't know what you are doing - most businesses simply consider it your problem and brush you off with an "I don't know" or "We can't help me.". But when our church recently experienced that lack of knowledge problem with the new phone system we purchased through King Communications, the absolute opposite was true. Within minutes, Bill called back or actually sent one of his employees down the very next day to resolve the problem. Even though our ignorance was frequent at first, King Communications never wavered from their commitment to us as a valued customer. We are very content with our new phone system and very happy that we went with King.

Celebrity Cruises’ Newest Cruise Ship Sets Sail with NEC’s Advanced IP DECT-based Mobile Communications Onboard
Posted on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 3:19 PM

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today that NEC Unified Solutions, a unit responsible for communications solutions for enterprises in Europe, Middle East, and Africa under NEC Europe Ltd., has successfully installed an advanced IP DECT-based mobile communications system onboard Celebrity Cruises’ newest cruise ship, the Celebrity Silhouette.

Celebrity Cruises, Inc. (Headquarters:Miami, FL, USA; Chairman & CEO:Richard D. Fain) took ownership of its newest ship, Celebrity Silhouette, on July 18 in a celebratory ceremony in the Dutch port of Eemshaven, after which the ship set sail to the Mediterranean where it will offer cruises throughout the summer and autumn period. Built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the 122,000-ton, 2,886-passenger and 1,271 crew Celebrity Silhouette is the fourth of five new Solstice Class ships Celebrity Cruises has committed to build between 2008 and 2012 and has a number of new features, including an outdoor interactive grill and private cabanas overlooking a real grass lawn on the top deck.

Onboard technology is state-of-the-art and top-of-the-bill as well, with NEC’s IP DECT technology providing secure mobile communications for staff and guests throughout the ship. The system comprises 415 DECT Access Points and includes 542 G955 DECT handsets and 30 M155 Messenger devices.
“NEC is honored to once again provide a cost effective large scale mobile communication system in support of superior cruise ship services”, said Taichiro Hashizawa, Vice President and Executive General Manager, Enterprise Solutions Operations Unit, NEC Corporation.

“It is an enormous challenge and achievement to implement so many DECT Access Points onboard a cruise ship offering such an extremely good coverage and high voice quality”, says Martin van der Veeken, Sales Director Marine for NEC Unified Solutions. “I am therefore extremely proud of yet another successful installation we have delivered to a satisfied customer in the cruise line industry and again we look forward to more to come. Our solutions provide reliable, secure shipboard communications giving cruise ship guests mobile communications even when they’re out of reach of public cellular services. NEC was the first company to introduce a unique Dual Band portfolio enabling ships to use IP-DECT at different international ports where DECT frequency bands may differ. Switching to the correct frequency band is done automatically”, he adds.

The Celebrity Silhouette is not the first ship of Celebrity Cruises with NEC’s advanced mobile communications technology installed. The Celebrity Eclipse, launched in 2010, also successfully deploys NEC’s IP DECT solution, while the fifth Solstice-class ship, Celebrity Reflection, will debut in November 2012, also including NEC’s communications equipment.
